Hospitality is not to change people, but to offer them a space where change can take place. ~Henri Nouwen
Dear Fraternity House Family,
The beauty of spring is upon us, and how blessed we are to witness the wonders of nature in this season. March is also a reminder to me that it is time to connect with all our donors and volunteers. When I first started volunteering for Fraternity House, Inc. it was spring of 1997. My initial task was simply to help install the first landscaping at Michaelle House. Now, 18 years later I remain in faithful service to our mission of serving homeless women and men affected by HIV/AIDS.
I know that each of us is well aware that in order to keep our doors open, we depend on monetary and in-kind donations from all of you, combined with the many hours of time donated by our wonderful volunteers. We are grateful to you for being part of the solution as we work to end homelessness and provide 24-hour care and services for those most in need.
There is a constant demand for our services; and the board, volunteers and caregiving staff are always searching for ways to better the lives of those who call Fraternity House and Michaelle House their home. Our mission is truly unique: we can provide end-of-life care, long-term stabilization care, and short-term transitional care under the same roof.
We just applied for a grant to improve our efforts in assisting residents to rebuild their health and learn how to live as independently as possible. The grant will allow us to establish an important rehabilitation program: Project MEND, with a focus on Mental health, Education, Nutrition and a healthy Direction. We are thrilled to help those residents who can do so, to successfully transition to their own housing.
Additionally, we have one other special announcement: At this critical time, a private donor has stepped forward to offer much-needed funding, and he is challenging you to do the same. All donations made between March 15 – April 30 will be matched. Please give as generously as you can. Donations can be made by clicking on the “Donate” tab above.
I wish you and your families a safe and wonderful spring. Thank you so much for your continued support.
Keeping Love Alive,
Patrick Anderson – Board President
