Housing

Fraternity House, Inc. was founded as a nonprofit in 1988 and operates the only two Residential Care Facilities for the Chronically-Ill (RCF-CI’s) in San Diego County. This license allows us the flexibility to provide transitional, long-term or hospice care in our homes. Fraternity House in the Elfin Forest (between Carlsbad and Escondido, south of San Marcos) is home to eight men; Michaelle House in Vista houses twelve men and women.

Our Residents have been through a lot of loss–the loss of good health, family and friends, housing, jobs, their driver’s license and car. They come to us with very few personal items. We do our best to make our houses feel like home, however long they stay.

Care

While with us, Residents receive round-the-clock care, assistance with activities of daily living, and nutritious, freshly prepared meals. Our Care Team also helps with accessing medical care, utilizing insurance and benefits, coordinating appointments, and managing complex medicine regimes.

In addition, we provide every Resident with the opportunity to achieve their highest level of independence, up to a return to independent living, by encouraging goal-setting and offering activities, outings, and workshops through our rehabilitative program, Project MEND (Mental Health, Education, Nutrition and Dignity). Our 2016-2017 cost per-resident, per-day was just $114.
