Fraternity House

Keeping Love Alive

Our Services

Fraternity House, Inc. was founded in 1988 and operates the only two Residential Care Facilities for the Chronically-Ill (RCF-CI’s)  in San Diego County.  This license allows us the flexibility to provide transitional, long-term or hospice care in our homes.  Fraternity House has eight beds and is located in Elfin Forest (between Carlsbad and Escondido, south of San Marcos); Michaelle House has ten beds and is located in Vista.  We are dedicated to serving individuals living with HIV/AIDS, regardless of ability to pay.  We provide housing, nutritious home cooked meals, 24-hour care, assistance with complex medication regimens, coordination of appointments, transportation and recreation.  Our 2013-2014 cost per-resident, per-day was just $84.

We serve adults (age 18+).  Currently the average resident age is 49 but we have served those much younger and much older.  We accept people from throughout San Diego County and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender or political beliefs.  Residents may be referred from hospitals, clinics, shelters, case managers, The V.A., churches and a variety of organizations; sometimes individuals call on their own or on behalf of a family member.

Our Residents have been through a lot of loss–the loss of good health, family and friends, housing, jobs, their driver’s license and car.  They come to us with very few personal items.  We do our best to make our houses feel like home, however long they stay.
